Cllr Sue Murphy

Sue is Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council, and has held that position since 2010. Her current responsibilities include Public Service Reform, international links, social inclusion and equalities. She is a Labour and Co-operative Party Councillor, representing Brooklands Ward in Wythenshawe.

Sue is a Deputy Chairman of the Local Government Association, and Deputy Chair of the Labour Group. She is also Chair of the LTE Group, which includes The Manchester College, Total People who provide apprenticeships) and Novus, the largest provider of education in prisons in England.

Before being elected as a member of Manchester City Council in 1995, Sue’s previous jobs include working for a newspaper, and for a Member of the European Parliament.
