Deepening democracy

CLES works to democratise local economies, shift power to people and challenge powerful interests. In our work we seek to build democratic vitality – advancing participative and deliberative democracy. This includes devolution, the strengthening of local control of wealth, co-producing public services and citizens assemblies that shift power towards people. We develop new models of urban governance, enabling self-management of an expanded commons, new municipalism and participatory local planning.
