CLES is recruiting

£22,000 – £30,000 (dependent on experience); Full time

About us

CLES is the national organisation for local economies. Established in 1986, our aim is to achieve social justice, good local economies and effective public services for everyone, everywhere. It is an exciting time to join our team. Our work is being taken forward by national and local governments across the UK and we are keen to build upon this success to deepen our work and widen our influence, particularly building on the success of our community wealth building work in areas like Wales and Scotland. Our progressive stance and practical work places us at the vanguard of articulating, advocating and advancing changes that deliver practical and positive change to people’s lives.

About you

You will have knowledge of and interest in contemporary policy around local economic development and ideally some experience of working/interning in an environment which undertakes research or policy formulation. You will play a key role in producing publications and in delivering activities as part of our research, consultancy and advisory commissions. This will likely include primary and secondary research, data analysis and interpretation, organising events, and contributing towards fundraising.

We welcome applications from a wide range of professional and lived experiences. As an organisation engaging in critical debate about the future of the economy, we value the creativity and range of perspectives that a diverse team can provide.

Our office base is in Manchester and we also have a small office in London. We are working towards a hybrid model of office working in the longer term with an expectation that the successful applicant would commit to spending regular time in one of our offices, dependent on where they are located.
