Central Manchester

Progressive economics for people and place

Established in 1986, CLES is the UK’s leading, independent think and do tank realising progressive economics for people and place. Our aim is to achieve social justice, good local economies and effective public services for everyone, everywhere. It is an exciting time to join the CLES team as our work continues to diversify and our influence grows.

The role

You will have a degree in a relevant social science discipline; knowledge of and interest in contemporary policy around local economic development; and ideally some experience of working/interning in an environment which undertakes research or policy formulation. You will play a key role in producing publications and other services for our membership base; and in delivering activities as part of our research, consultancy and advisory commissions. This will likely include primary and secondary research, data analysis and interpretation and organising events. You will also contribute towards drafting bids. You will be an excellent writer.

This is not a standard researcher role. It is an opportunity to work in a progressive environment and in an organisation committed to social and economic change. CLES actively welcomes applications from all sections of society. Our aim is that we are truly inclusive and we are committed to a culture where diversity is celebrated.

Registered charity number 1089503.
