Community Wealth Building in Sunderland

CLES Chief Executive Neil McInroy and Researcher Jonty Leibowitz led a workshop for anchor institutions in Sunderland to explore possibilities for collaboration through Community Wealth Building.

Attendees included senior representatives from organisations on the Sunderland Partnership, including:

  • Sunderland City Council;
  • Gentoo;
  • Northumbria Police;
  • Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue; and
  • South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

Jonty said

“Community wealth building in Sunderland will be achieved through the collective will and vision of Sunderland City Council and the city’s anchor institutions. In this workshop, we discussed how anchors can come together to drive this agenda forward, with a particular focus on developing fair HR and workforce policies across the board.”
