Living wage and the role of local government

This think-piece explores the role of local government in the Living Wage agenda. Developed by CLES in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Living Wage campaign it identifies a number of key roles including: as democratic place leaders; and as requires, encouragers and cajolers through procurement. It concludes with a series of recommendations including the suggestion for local authorities to produce charters for social responsibility which frame their purchasing and development activities.
