A just transition for all
TECA Aberdeen
Transforming local economies through community wealth building
A joint event from the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) and Future Economy Scotland
The Scottish Government has taken meaningful steps to champion community wealth building and has also set an ambitious target of achieving a just transition to net zero by 2045. Decarbonising Scotland’s economy as quickly as possible is vital, but how we do so – and who benefits – matters. Scaling up community wealth building can be a powerful catalyst for delivering a just transition to net zero at a local level by ensuring that the wealth created by the transition to net is retained and re-circulated locally.
This session at the SNP Party Conference Fringe will explore how Scotland can harness community wealth building to deliver a just transition, harnessing the potential of the upcoming Community Wealth Building Act.
The event will be chaired by CLES’s Chief Executive, Sarah Longlands and speakers include:
- Tom Arthur MSP, Minister for Community Wealth and Public Finance, Scottish Government
- Martin Avila, Chief Executive, CEIS
- Miriam Brett, Co-Founder, Future Economy Scotland
- Cllr Ellen Forson, Leader, Clackmannanshire Council
