Alice Pugh
Senior Policy and Data Analyst
Alice joined CLES in November 2024 on a one year, part time secondment from the University of Birmingham’s City-REDI research institute, where she is a Senior Policy and Data Analyst. She brings significant experience in data policy analysis, practical economic analysis skills and an understanding of the local and national policy context around place-based economic development. She has previously worked as a civil servant, consultant, researcher and within sub-national government. She is also a Green Book Better Business Cases Practitioner.
Here’s what Alice said when we asked, “why did you choose CLES?”
Working in local economic development and place-based policy it’s difficult not to be aware of the excellent work that CLES does. Over the last couple of years, I have worked with CLES on a few occasions, and I am very excited to now be joining CLES on secondment at a time when local economic development has become a key national policy focus.
Whilst at CLES I hope to further develop my work around inclusive and sustainable local economic development, embedding the work into the Local Policy Innovation Partnership project, including the development of innovative socio-economic impact assessment methodologies.
