Benedikt Stranak
Senior Analyst
Benedikt joined CLES in December 2024. He brings data science skills, a passion for spatial data, and a dedication to economic and environmental justice. With experience in the progressive think tank sector, Benedikt also has a good understanding of both local government and the national policy context.
Here’s what Benedikt said when we asked, “why did you choose CLES?”
I am excited to join the team because CLES brings together ambitious and critical thinking about local economic development and a practical, hands-on approach to change. I have followed CLES for a while and had a chance to work alongside CLES colleagues in my previous role.
I was always impressed and inspired by their commitment to economics which serves people and the planet rather than wealth. With my background in urban studies, I am particularly excited by the opportunity to explore more just alternatives to dominant property-led approaches to economic development.
