Evelyn Henderson-Child
Evelyn joined CLES in October 2025. She brings experience of working with community groups, social enterprises, and charities across the UK and internationally. Her work has focussed on supporting organisations to strengthen their sustainability and demonstrate the crucial role of the community sector in local economic development. She has supported the development and scaling of community-led approaches to financial inclusion, community asset development, and natural resource management.
Evelyn previously led a community wealth building initiative in north Edinburgh, working with community anchor organisations to assess the local impact of their supply chains and to develop collaborative approaches to public procurement. She holds an MSc in Ecological Economics.
When asked why she chose to join CLES, Evelyn said:
“I have followed CLES’ work for several years and seen its research have an influence on policy and practice through the advancement of community wealth building in Scotland.
“I am incredibly motivated by the mission to build economies that prioritise people and the planet, and CLES’ commitment to delivering change people can see and feel for themselves. Joining an organisation with that focus feels like a natural step, building on my work with community groups and social enterprises who demonstrate every day and often against the odds what just, people-centred economies can look like.”
