Julian Boys
Associate Director (Economic Strategy)
Julian joined CLES in January 2024 and brings over 12 years’ experience working internationally on the economics of sustainable inclusive development. As a consultant, academic and civil servant he has advised the governments of the UK and various other localities, as well as international organizations, donors, social businesses and NGOs. Julian holds a PhD in Economics from SOAS, University of London.
Here’s what Julian said when we asked, “why did you choose CLES?”
Community wealth building offers a coherent and compelling alternative to orthodox neoliberal approaches to local economic development. As a leading voice and actor in the UK’s CWB movement, CLES has an outsized impact delivering progressive outcomes for communities. I’m excited to be joining CLES and hope to contribute to their important work!
