Oliver Chan

Oliver joined CLES in December 2024. Driven by ambitions to deliver positive change for communities, Oliver brings a wealth of knowledge in developing sustainable and intersectional approaches to local economies, centred on social and cooperative ownership. With a background working across public and VCSE sectors, Oliver is a skilled research project manager and brings expertise in analysing and visualizing quantitative data findings.

Here’s what Oliver said when we asked, “why did you choose CLES?”

I joined CLES because I am inspired by its mission to pioneer a creative, bold, transformative approach to economic development that is firmly centred around people and their communities rather than profit.  

Working for CLES gives me an exciting opportunity to support building local economic models that are underpinned by alternative and social ownership, collaboration rather than competition, and activities that voice and address people’s basic needs, and are socially just, democratic and environmentally sustainable.
