Community Wealth and Wellbeing

Senscot, Social Firms Scotland and Scottish Community Alliance will be holding a conference at Westerwood Hotel on Monday 25th November and Tuesday the 26th November.

The theme of this year’s Conference is ‘community wealth building – the role for social and community enterprise’.  Community wealth building is a people-centred approach to local economic development. It reorganises local economies to be fairer, stops wealth flowing out of our communities, towns and cities and instead, it places control of this wealth into the hands of local people, communities, businesses and organisations.

Neil McInroy CLES CEO will be speaking on Monday 25th November at 11:15am, giving an overview on why CLES became involved in community wealth building, how it works in practice, the challenges it has faced so far and what impact it has had so far. As well as explaining the opportunities it can provide for communities and social enterprises.

Neil will be joined on a panel discussing community wealth building by:

Aileen Campbell, Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Local Government, Scottish Govt;                                                                                                                                                                                               Joe Cullinane, Leader, North Ayrshire Council.
