Local Enterprise Zones: Driving Economic Growth Through Partnership
Strong local economies form the backbone of the UK economy. Local businesses support the on-going creation of jobs and services and are a vital component of a healthy GDP. Securing economic growth requires local businesses, the public sector and communities to be able to act decisively and in partnership to increase regional prosperity.
The government White Paper on Local Growth published on 28 October 2010 sets out the vision for the long-term regeneration of local economies through the introduction of Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). These partnerships seek to drive forward enterprise and create new employment opportunities. Since the announcement of the Budget 2011, 21 LEP areas will now establish the revival of the 1980s’s enterprise zones to boost the growth of the UK economy.
Delegates will learn more about the government’s pro-growth agenda and how enterprise zones can remove barriers to achieve sustainable partnerships and local economic growth, whilst evaluating how this will impact local business practice and organisations.
