Sustainable Housing for Inclusive and Cohesive Cities
On Friday 10 May, join leaders in the Community Land Trust (CLT) movement from across North-West Europe and an array of politicians, policy makers, and officials from local and regional governments for this day-long conference in London City Hall.
North-West Europe is in the midst of a housing affordability crisis – over 26 million people across the European Union are now living in overcrowded and inadequate properties – and as it continues to penetrate further into the fabric of our cities, their social and economic sustainability is being seriously threatened.
The conference will explore the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the CLT movement and the role this approach can play in supporting inclusive and sustainable neighbourhoods in cities across North West Europe.
This conference is part of Sustainable Housing for Inclusive and Cohesive Cities initiative, a project that has brought together 6 organisations to increase the presence and impact of urban CLTs across North-West Europe. This will be the second transnational event with the last one held last year in Lille and plans for the third in 2020 in Brussels.
CLES CEO Neil McInroy will be taking part in a session on ‘Housing as the heart of community: social impact and benefits of community land trusts’
