CLES presents…
Webinar: Stephanie Flanders
in conversation with Ted Howard and Neil McInroy
With the Covid-19 pandemic, we face an event of historical importance, potentially unprecedented in its magnitude in peacetime.
As we turn our thoughts more and more toward a post-Covid-19 economy and society , we must work to both recover from the crisis and reform it, so we create an economy that truly tackles the climate crisis and is more just and fair.
The long-established tradition of work – on both sides of the Atlantic – by the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) and The Democracy Collaborative (TDC) on community wealth building offers a potential way forward to economic recovery and reform.
In recent weeks, both organisations have released papers exploring this potential. In Owning the Future, CLES and TDC explore how community wealth building policy and practice must shift to meet the scale of the crisis. In the follow up paper, Rescue, Recover, Reform, CLES presents a framework for action for local, city and city regional authorities as they plan the rebuilding and reforming of local economies.
To discuss this work, Ted Howard, President and Co-Founder of TDC and Neil McInroy, Chief Executive of CLES will be joined in conversation by Stephanie Flanders, Senior Executive Editor for Economics at Bloomberg and Head of Bloomberg Economics.
Together they will explore the role that community wealth building is already playing and its potential expansion in the post-Covid-19 economic recovery and reform process – creating an economy which is fairer, more inclusive , resilient and greener than that which existed before.
