CLES Chief Executive is LGC Awards 2018 judge

CLES Chief Executive Neil McInroy was one of the judges for the LGC Awards Driving Growth category.

The LGC Awards recognise and reward the very best in local government. The Driving Growth award is intended to highlight the key roles that local councils can play in driving economic growth in relation to infrastructure, their role as employers and purchasers of services, and in supporting local businesses.

Neil said: “Celebrating the great things which local government are doing to create successful economies is vital. I was struck by the many progressive things which councils are doing- starting to link an economy with social needs and place. Many know that economic growth is not enough: it needs to link to social justice and public sector change.”
