CLES works to ensure “the economy” and “the environment” are not developed as discrete physical and conceptual spheres. They are, in fact, two sides of the same coin, with a deep symbiosis between the two that is now impossible to ignore.
We are laying out the intellectual and organisational groundwork to understand how our work can be developed further to tackle the climate emergency, as well as build social, economic, and environmental justice in our local economies – a key element of this is the Green New Deal.
