Budget 2011 – a budget for widening gaps

The 2011 Buget was heralded by the Government as a budget for stability, growth and fairness. To what extent did it fulfill these aims?  This Bulletin suggests that while there is some evidence of measures for stability and growth there is a continued lack of consideration for issues surrounding economic inequality, social justice and working within environmental limits. For CLES the Budget also fails to address the supply side challenges restricting the prosperity of business in many localities and is full of contradictions.
