Naomi Mason

Head of Scotland

Naomi leads CLES’s work in Scotland, overseeing research, policy development, and external engagement, as well as representing CLES at local and national events and as a media commentator. Her specialist areas include:

  • Community led development
  • Wellbeing economics
  • Strategic development
  • A just transition to net zero
  • Qualitative research methods

She brings over a decade of experience in economic development at a local and national level from organisations across the Scottish public and third sector. With a masters in ecological economics, she has a theoretical as well as practical grounding in creating fairer and more sustainable economic development.

Naomi’s research at CLES focusses on natural resource governance, renewables, SME procurement and community wealth building strategies. It has generated national reporting on these topics and contributed to the conversation about how Scotland can build fairer and more inclusive economies.
