Join us for the third annual Community Wealth Building Summit. This one-day summit is the premier UK event for uniting, informing and inspiring the community wealth building movement.
This year’s summit will showcase how community wealth building is being used to rebuild and reform local economies reeling from the impact of Covid-19. It will provide insight into policy and practice from city mayors, national and local governments, communities and practitioners in the UK and beyond; helping us all to build fairer, sustainable, and more resilient local economies in these unprecedented times.
About
We are entering into economic uncertainty and a recession of unprecedented depth and breadth. More than ever before, there is a need to reset our economy and reform local economic development by placing the practice of community wealth building at the centre of our recovery effort.
Covid-19 has exposed the vulnerabilities and fundamental flaws in our economy, not least regarding work and supply chains.
As an antidote, local, regional and national governments across the UK are embracing community wealth building as an approach to rebuild and reform their local economies to be fairer, more resilient and sustainable. This summit provides a unique opportunity to hear about the steps being taken.
Who it’s for
The Summit is for anyone who wants to build an economy that works for all – one in which wealth and ownership are redirected back into the hands of the people who created it. The event will be of special importance to those directly involved in Covid-19 recovery planning.
This Summit will bring together leaders and officers from governments across the UK to discuss the challenges we face, to showcase the people and places who are forging a new path and to explore the lessons we can learn from our colleagues doing community wealth building across the globe.
What to expect
This year’s event will present opportunities to hear from global thought leaders who are progressing community wealth building policy and from emerging and established practitioners. You can view the programme here.
The summit will help you to:
- Learn how community wealth building can and should be placed at the heart of the Covid-19 recovery effort;
- Understand how community wealth building represents a break from failed economic planning;
- Increase awareness and understanding of the ideas behind community wealth building and the places where they are being applied.
How to attend
Book your place via Eventbrite.
Tickets for this year’s event are £50 (+ booking fee), or £40 (+ booking fee) for voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSE)
We are aware of the need to increase representation of people from ethnic minorities in the community wealth building movement. With that in mind, we would like to offer a free “guest ticket” for individuals from ethnic minorities who are accompanied by a fully paying/discount rate attendee. If this is something you wish to arrange, we ask that the ticket holder contact us directly.
