About us

CLES is the UK’s leading, independent think and do tank for local economies. Our mission is to create inclusive local economies that work for people, place and planet.

We work with a range of organisations to design and deliver innovative and collaborative economic strategies and action plans to help tackle the challenges we face at the current time. The learning and insights we gain from this work are then used to help inform the national policy debate. During the last ten years, CLES has been at the forefront of the community wealth building movement in the UK and has developed the national community wealth building centre of excellence.

About you

It is an exciting time to join the CLES team. Our work on community wealth building is being adopted by national and local governments across the UK. We are keen to build upon this success to deepen our impact and widen our influence, including helping to inform national debates on post covid recovery, racial inequality, levelling up and a just transition. We are looking for someone who shares our desire to realise a better life for people in communities across the UK and wants to help us communicate our vision and work to a diverse audience.

You will have an interest in contemporary policy debates and some experience of working in a busy administrative and/or communications environment. You’ll work across the CLES team to support our day-to-day external affairs and administrative work, helping to organise meetings and events, developing content for social media and identifying opportunities to promote our work, including with national and regional media.

CLES welcomes applications from people with a wide range of professional and lived experiences. As an organisation engaging in critical debate about the future of the economy, we value the creativity and range of perspectives that a diverse team can provide.
